Position Summary:
- Perform venipuncture, monitored urine specimen collection, and document results for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
- Notify medical staff via documentation and reports for testing results.
- Complete data entry task as assigned.
- Full time: Monday-Friday 5:15am-1:00pm.
Job Duties may include:
- Obtain blood specimens from patients per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures.
- Complete monitored urine collection and in house testing.
- Prepare specimens for shipment to off site laboratory.
- Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Review the specimen collection schedule and verify and complete orders. Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record. Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.
- Complete appropriate specimen collection forms, documenting tests performed and providing results of tests performed.
- Complete specimen collection requisition forms and produce appropriate labels for forms and specimen tubes.
- Enter patient demographics, tests performed and diagnoses correlating to tests performed in the EMR.
- Order and maintain adequate specimen collection supplies.
- Clean and maintain the specimen collection room including equipment.
- Maintain records and documentation for proficiency testing and to meet all state and federal regulations for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP).
- Adhere to infection control policies and regulations.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of specimen collection room.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Certification and Licensure:
- Phlebotomy certification or licensed nurse.
