About the Job
Position Summary:
  • Perform venipuncture, monitored urine specimen collection, and document results for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
  • Notify medical staff via documentation and reports for testing results.
  • Complete data entry task as assigned.
  • Full time: Monday-Friday 5:15am-1:00pm.

Job Duties may include:
  • Obtain blood specimens from patients per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures.
  • Complete monitored urine collection and in house testing.
  • Prepare specimens for shipment to off site laboratory.
  • Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Review the specimen collection schedule and verify and complete orders. Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record. Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete appropriate specimen collection forms, documenting tests performed and providing results of tests performed.
  • Complete specimen collection requisition forms and produce appropriate labels for forms and specimen tubes.
  • Enter patient demographics, tests performed and diagnoses correlating to tests performed in the EMR.
  • Order and maintain adequate specimen collection supplies.
  • Clean and maintain the specimen collection room including equipment.
  • Maintain records and documentation for proficiency testing and to meet all state and federal regulations for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP).
  • Adhere to infection control policies and regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of specimen collection room.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s Degree or higher preferred. 
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Certification and Licensure:
  • Phlebotomy certification or licensed nurse.
